Partner Assisted Stretching and Shiatsu

Our health is dependent on the free flow of prana in our body, mind, and spirit. Partner Assisted Stretching reduces muscle tension, increases flexibility, enhances circulation, helps alleviate lower back pain, improves balance and coordination, and when assisted, becomes more safe and effective. In this workshop we will work with a partner to help lengthen tight muscles using a modern stretching technique called PNF/resistance stretching. Stretches for the lower and upper body will be taught, along with some elements of Shiatsu Massage (gentle finger and hand pressure, skillful touch, and relaxing joint manipulations.) Come with a spouse, partner, friend or neighbor, or just by yourself and we will partner you up with someone at the workshop. Learn to listen, receive, share and play! All levels are welcome.

Yoga of Energy Flow:

Inner Fire, Outer Radiance When the body flows like running water, it is always renewed, always fresh. This is true freedom. Integrating strength and flexibility training, energy cultivation, and open awareness, Yoga of Energy Flow is a unique and transformative yoga method. In this workshop we will draw from Kundalini Yoga, Meridian Yoga, Kali Ray TriYoga, and Qi Gong to experience simple but powerful ways to increase and balance the flow of pranic energy through our body, mind, and spirit. We will work with pranayama, vinyasa, asana, and chanting meditation, in a practice that opens and transforms.

Pranayama, Bandha, Mudra: The Power of the Breath

Breath is life and life is breath. When breath flows, so does life. We will explore some of the higher yogic practices that establish links between annamaya kosha, the physical body, manomaya kosha, the mental body, andpranayama kosha, the energy body. These practices include pranayama, mudra, bandhas, and meditation. Pranayama works with the breath; mudra, with attitude and mental focus, which can include hand gestures; bandhas, with physical locks in the body that contain and direct prana energies; and meditation, with bringing the mind to stillness and peace. All these techniques increase and balance the flow of pranic energy throughout our body-mind. This flow of energy is the flow of life itself, connecting us to to stillness, to strength, and to our true nature which is pure presence in the here and now.

Daniel Orlansky, MA, ERYT-500, a yoga teacher since 1992, is certified in Jnana Yoga, Kali Ray TriYoga and Kundalini Yoga, and is the originator of Meridian Yoga. He holds a masters degree in Expressive Art Therapy/Dance Therapy from Lesley University and has been a visiting lecturer in movement studies at Tufts University. A graduate of the Boston Shiatsu School, Daniel teaches regularly at the Kripalu Center, the Omega Institute, and in Europe, and also directs yoga teacher trainings worldwide.
